The Spanish clothing brand Mango has announced that it will replace real models with AI versions for its upcoming advertising campaigns.

In July, the brand made headlines by launching a campaign featuring a model generated by artificial intelligence. Now, they have revealed plans to completely move away from real models in favor of AI versions.

“It’s a faster way to create content,” said Mango CEO Toni Ruiz to Bloomberg. Mango is among a growing number of companies establishing a new norm in advertising. According to Bloomberg, brands like Nike, Louis Vuitton, and Levi Strauss & Co. are also embracing this idea.

Responding to criticism about moving away from real models, Mango’s Chief Information Officer, Jordi Álex Moreno, stated that Mango has short-term plans to double its current workforce, as the company aims to open over 30 new stores by the end of next year.

“It’s an excellent example of teamwork between handcrafted human intelligence and digital intelligence. AI should act as a copilot to amplify our employees’ capabilities and creativity, speeding up repetitive tasks so teams can spend more time on value-added work,” Moreno told the Financial Times.
